How To Check Your Pin On Capital One App

Have you ever wished you could pin certain apps to the Android Share menu? Wish no more, as the feature is here. Jack Wallen shows you how to use it.

For the longest time Android users have been waiting for the ability to customize the share menu. It may seem like a small thing, but when you share a lot from your mobile device, having to constantly scroll through that share menu to find the one app you want to use can be a real time waster. So having the ability to pin your most-used apps to the top would make this a much more efficient experience.

This is something we've been asking for for some time. The feature, which was introduced with Nougat, was removed from Android Q beta 3. Pinning apps to the share menu never popped up again.

Until the March 2020 security patch for Android 10 and with the beta release of Android 11, it seems the feature has remained.

Huzzah!

Thanks to the Android 11 beta, I'm going to show you how easy this is. If you're using a device with Android 10, the feature should also be available (unless you're using a Samsung Galaxy device, at which point all bets are off). I even tested one device running Android 9 (a Terracube phone) which also included the feature.

The lesson here, you never know if your device has the feature until you try.

What you'll need

By now, you probably understand that your best bet for using this feature is having either an Android device running a beta version 11 of Google's platform, or a non-Samsung device running at least version 10 of Android.

If you're unsure (or have your fingers crossed that your device does include the feature), read on.

How to pin an app to the Share menu

Open an app that you normally would share from. Let's use Chrome as an example. So open Chrome and go to a site you want to share. Tap the menu button in the top-right corner and then tap Share.

When the Share menu opens, you'll notice a new Pinned row (denoted by the pin icon) (Figure A).

The Android share menu now has a Pinned row.

Locate and long-press the app you want to add to the Pinned row. When the popup appears, tap Pin X, where X is the name of the app to be pinned (Figure B).

If you open the Share menu again, you should see Gmail is now pinned to the Pinned section (Figure C).

How to unpin an app from the Share menu

If you decide you no longer want a particular app pinned to the share menu, you can easily unpin it. Open the Share menu and long-press the app in question. From the popup, tap Unpin X--where X is the name of the app in question (Figure D).

And that's all there is to pinning an app to the Android Share menu. Those of you who've been begging for this feature need no longer supplicate yourselves to the Android devs--the feature is here and here to stay.
